Ntentule Falls – A Wild Coast Giant Near the Msikaba Bridge

Hidden among the dramatic gorges and rolling green hills of the Wild Coast is one of the Eastern Cape’s most impressive natural treasures — Ntentule Falls.

At approximately 175 metres high, Ntentule Falls is one of South Africa’s highest waterfalls. The falls are situated on the Mateku River, about 20 km east of Lusikisiki.

What makes this area even more fascinating is its location not far from another remarkable sight — the enormous Msikaba Bridge, which is currently still under construction as part of the N2 Wild Coast Road project.

The bridge is not yet completed, but watching this extraordinary engineering project taking shape against the rugged Wild Coast landscape is impressive in itself.

It creates a fascinating contrast: the untouched natural beauty of Ntentule Falls and, nearby, one of South Africa’s major modern engineering projects being built across the dramatic Msikaba River gorge.

Ntentule Falls also gained wider attention when surveyors working in the area measured its impressive height.

For visitors staying in Mbotyi, this is another reason to explore beyond the beaches. The surrounding Wild Coast offers waterfalls, deep gorges, forests, rivers, hiking opportunities and breathtaking scenery.
